GIV Society to Host 2nd Annual “Holiday GIVing” Event at the Woodward’s Atrium
Various local restaurants and businesses to participate in feeding over 1,000 guests in the Downtown Eastside area.
Vancouver, B.C. November 26, 2018: Global Inspired Volunteer (GIV) Society is set to host their signature “Holiday GIVing” event for the second year at the Woodward’s Atrium in the Downtown, Eastside area of Vancouver on November 26th, 6-8pm. By partnering with numerous local restaurants and businesses to provide dinner, entertainment, foot ware and warm winter clothing for those less fortunate, the event aims to raise awareness of the increasing rate of homelessness in the lower mainland.
About Holiday Giving:
After successfully hosting “Holiday GIVing” in 2017 which resulted in hot breakfast, warm winter jackets and brand-new shoes for over 500 guests, Allibhai is determined to set GIV’s sights higher this year by doubling the amount of meals and winter necessities for attendees. “Last year’s turn out exceeded our expectations. GIV is very fortunate to have the support of Westbank, who has so generously provided us the space to make Holiday GIVing memorable”, Allibhai expressed. Undoubtedly, Holiday GIVing would not be complete without their dedicated team of volunteers, as Allibhai also stated that “they are the most precious resource in building a prosperous civil society.”

GIV Society, launched by Karim Allibhai is a volunteer event management team that supports non-profit organizations and communities in achieving their social goals. Since its emergence in June 2017, GIV has directly impacted over 35,000 community members and has provided meals to over 2,800 to those in need. GIV is more than a charity-centric organization. Thursday, May 10th, 2018: The Shakti Awards Dinner Gala is a celebration of women with approximately 500 guests being held on Friday, May 11th at Bollywood Banquet Hall at 6:30 p.m. Funds raised will go towards programs like Wellness Days, Healing Circles for Women, Community Cafes on violence against women and one on one counselling and support for women in abusive relationships.
Women from all walks of life will be participating in this celebration of the accomplishments of their sisters. A large number of men supportive of women’s causes will also be in attendance. A powerful speech will be given by our Keynote Speaker, Shushma Datt. She is a pioneer in the broadcasting industry and a trailblazer as a successful businesswoman who has stayed true to her roots, her values and principles while introducing ethnic broadcasting to British Columbians in the early 70s. Soul stirring entertainment, delicious dinner and drinks are also on the menu.
Shakti Society is excited to announce its partnership with GIV Society, a progressive and innovative society that is utilizing the social capital of our community to create change agents through volunteerism.
